Gotta disagree my friend, if he comes cheap and can give the cbj any offense at all, get him. We need someone who can do something with the puck in the offensive zone. He can do that.

He's one of the BEST two way wingers in the game...PK, PP and good 5 on 5. He's not worth his salary, and probably never was, like MANY others in NHL.

As a NYR fan, I'm glad to see his salary go, but would, like most, love to re sign him next year at a lower price tag. He NEVER takes a night offf, and even though its not saying much, he's is the most noticeable player on the NYR every game, w/ exception to Hank

If Rick Nash finished 25% of the chances he had, he would be worth his pay and then some.

By far most talent on the Rangers, but when you are also one of the highest paid, you will be judged by the amount of goals you score

The Rangers will not retain any salary. The cost to have him for the remainder of the season would come in around $2.5M. Fair value for what getting what you need. You will pay the cost of a 1st round pick, and you will like it!!

For a 1st rounder and prospect, NYR will absolutely retain salary this year.

Why not? They won't be "buyers" therefore his salary means nothing. If NYR is smart, they will retain some salary on the players they trade so they can get more in return. They are losing Nash's, and anyone elses salary by seasons end, so it won't effect how they act during the summer

Rick Nash leaving the CBJ, although not handled well by either side, was a good thing for both parties. It was time for Nash to move on - the other players often deferred to him on offense - passing up good opportunities to get him the puck. The offense was basically a one man show. So the offense never really developed.
Also, he wasn't the fleetest skater back then, and I'm pretty sure has not gained any speed since.
And for him - he got to play in NYC, on a perennial play-off team.

Sentimentally it would be nice to have Rick back in a CBJ uniform, but I'm not convinced how beneficial it would be for the team.
I think there are better ways for the CBJ to spend their $$$ and prospects to help the team.

He would be a rental, and he has more goals than most if not all your current wingers..He wouldn't help for playoff push/run???

As has been stated, he is not the scorer he once was. But, he has been the best Ranger on the ice (aside from Lundqvist) in about 90% of our games this season. He is elite in every aspect of the game.

Retain 50% of the salary, but he isn’t going to a 2nd or low end prospect.

Considering he still has a house in Columbus and spends his summers there, Columbus is very likely a team he would accept a trade to.

Oh . . . you NYR bloggers are juicing up Nash in hopes of getting high draft picks or prospects. Ain't gonna happen.
And I agree with what this year's stats are saying - but he wouldn't play on Panarin's line, so that puts him on the 2nd or 3rd line.
I'm waffling on this.

You obviously haven't seen him play lately. Blue jackets would be better with him.. not even a debate....as a rental...

Reports out of Ottawa have Bobby Ryan and Dion Phaneuf heading to the Jackets.
